Madeira WEBLON
Madeira's polyamide cut-away embroidery backing, sold in the UK as SuperCut Weblon: 34 g/m² black and 44 g/m² white variants with an OEKO-TEX class I certificate — specified from Madeira's data sheet, certificate document and its UK subsidiary's shop listing.
What it is
A cut-away embroidery backing in 100 % polyamide, designed to permanently stabilise stitch areas on light to middle-weight and stretch fabrics — Madeira's data sheet singles out jersey and polo-piqué. The excess is trimmed away after embroidery and the remainder stays in the garment through wear and washing.
Who it may be relevant for: Commercial embroiderers stabilising knits and stretch garments where a tear-away would distort the stitch-out.
UK market notes
- Sold through Madeira UK LLP's own webshop (Ripon, North Yorkshire) as SuperCut Weblon — the UK name for the product the global data sheet documents as WEBLON (reconciled by the article number 051WL50S and the 34 g/m² black specification).
- The OEKO-TEX evidence is certificate-level: Hohenstein certificate 08.0.62534, product class I (baby articles), valid until 31 October 2026 — its scope names "WEBLON and WEBLON PLUS made of 100 % polyamide in black and white" among the wider Madeira backings range the certificate covers.
- Hooping guidance is not documented on the fetched official sources — treat hooping technique as workshop practice, not manufacturer instruction.
