ORACAL 651 Intermediate Cal

ORAFOL's workhorse calendered sign vinyl, specified here from the European documentation that governs UK supply: 70-micron polymeric PVC with a permanent polyacrylate adhesive and up to five years' rated vertical outdoor durability in a Central European climate — with the differing US-market figures identified separately.

ORAFOL · ORACAL 651 Intermediate CalCurrent product — listed by the manufacturer for the UKLast verified 2026-07-17

What it is

A blended polymeric PVC film with a glossy or matt surface and a permanent solvent polyacrylate adhesive, cut on vinyl cutters for signage, decals and lettering. ORAFOL Europe rates it up to five years' vertical outdoor exposure in a normal Central European climate, with lower ratings for some colour groups.

Who it may be relevant for: Sign makers and decorators producing stickers, decals and general signage where a permanent-adhesive intermediate vinyl is the default choice.

UK market notes

  • UK supply follows ORAFOL Europe GmbH's documentation (product page and Technical Datasheet 2020/32) — the figures on this page are the European ones. ORAFOL's official locations page lists a UK group company (Kay Premium Marking Films Ltd, Crumlin, Wales).
  • The US-market ORACAL 651 differs materially: 2.5 mil (about 63.5 µm) film, a 6-year headline durability rating with different colour groupings, and inch-based roll widths — those figures do not describe the product as documented for Europe.
  • The European TDS revision (2020/32) is older than the current US TDS (05/2026); ORAFOL Europe's article-information sheet is dated 21 January 2025.

Confirm the exact supplied model, electrical configuration and warranty with the manufacturer or a UK authorised distributor before purchasing.

Manufacturer claims

Documented compatibility

Only relationships the manufacturer (or, where marked, a distributor) states in writing. Absence from this list does not mean incompatibility.

  • ORATAPE HT95, LT52, LT95, MT52, MT72, MT80P and MT95 application tapesORAFOL Europe's stated application-tape pairings for ORACAL 651. Manufacturer-confirmed (EU statement)[1] · verified 2026-07-17The US pages list a shorter pairing set (HT55/MT95, plus MT80P on the TDS).

Limitations

  • Durability ratings are ORAFOL's, for vertical exposure in its stated climate basis — horizontal use, harsh climates and application quality all reduce them.
  • ORAFOL requires clean, cured surfaces and recommends pre-testing on lacquered or painted substrates.
  • European and US variants differ materially (thickness, durability rating, widths, colour catalogue); this page presents the European figures that govern UK supply and identifies the US variant separately.
  • The European TDS revision (2020/32) predates the US revision (05/2026); figures were re-verified against the live European documents on the date shown.
